COMPETITION FOR A MUSIC SCHOOL IN POZNAŃ (SECOND PLACE)

Competition for urban and architectural concept of the Academy of Music building in Poznań, at 28 Czerwca 1956 Street. The building of the music school combines two functions that have different requirements. The study and administrative rooms require access to natural light and this means they cannot have too deep tracts. On the other hand, the concert and theater halls are large rooms that do not need to have access to light but have high requirements in terms of acoustics. The structure of the building is a logical reaction to the characteristic requirements of these two functions: the outside wall along the borders of the buildup area is largely a space for classes and individual teaching rooms. Inside of the building includes concert halls, supported by utility rooms. Within the quarter, above the concert hall, there is an atrium which fulfills the role of a musical garden.
